With the conclusion of the 2012 "On Demand Neighborhood Chipping Program," the Big Bear Valley has had 7 successful chipping seasons due to the combined resources of The Big Bear Lake Fire Department, the Big Bear City Fire Department, and the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Our crews serviced over 1,850 requests, thus helping to eliminate over 592 tons of vegetation. The majority of chipping requests were picked up within two weeks. On our website: www.ThinIsIn.org, Big Bear Valley residents logged in over 2,700 hours of time spent creating defensible space. Thank you residents!

We are sad to report that due to a lack of grant funding, the "2013 On Demand Neighborhood Chipping Program" will be suspended. Thank you to all who were involved over the last 7 years to make this program a success and help keep our community fire safe.
