History of the Neighborhood Chipping Program
The
Big Bear
Valley Fire
Safe Council
held its
first Chipper
Days in
2004.
It was
such a success
that more
dates have
been scheduled.
The name “Chipper
Day” is
reminiscent
of a beaver
chipping
through
the forest
turning
little trees
and branches
into chips.
It is a
convenient
way for
people in
the Big
Bear Valley
to dispose
of their
overgrown
vegetation,
tree trimmings,
and branches
and have
them turned
into chips.
Vegetation
material
is chipped
into small
pieces and
made available
free back
to the public
for use
as mulch
and ground
cover for
landscaping.
It’s
a great
way to recycle
our biomass
in the Big
Bear Valley
while at
the same
time minimizing
the waste
at our local
transfer
station.
Look for “Chipper
Days” coming
to your
neighborhood.
